Emi Asta is an Italian musician born June 12 of 1987. He was raised in Argentina and is now living in New York.
Emi started playing guitar at the age of 8, influenced by musicians such as Gary Moore, Brian May, David Gilmour, Steve Vai, Ingwye Malmsteen, Jason Becker, Slash, Steve Ray Vaughan, etc.
At the age of 16, Emi found himself as frontman for the very sucessful local Argentinian band "Shoother." This came about because after many different lead singers, he finally took the gig himself! He began to compose all songs and melodies for the band and that's when things really took off.
His voice is often compared to singers such as, Jon Bon Jovi (Bon Jovi), Axl Rose (Guns N’ Roses), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), whom obviously have been huge influences on him, as well as other singers like Jani Lane (Warrant), Miljenko Matijevic (Steelheart), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Janis Joplin, Mark Slaughter (Slaughter), Freddie Mercury (Queen), etc.
Under the name of Shoother, he recorded his first E.P. between August and December of 2008 titled “Who The F*%k Said Rock N’ Roll Is Dead” containing 4 songs (all of them written and recorded entirely by Emi). It was released in Argentina in February of 2009 and received excellent reviews from many international critics. In March of the same year he elected the Song “Naked On The Floor” as the E.P.’s single and began to shoot the video.
Shoother was then asked to play all over the Buenos Aires underground scene, selling out all the most recognized venues such as Acatraz, Tabasco, CBGB, Speed King, The Roxy, and many others.
Given the lack of commitment of the rest of the members in the band, Emi decided to continue his career as a solo man changing the name of his band project simply to “Emi Asta”.
In August of 2010 Emi recorded his first album self titled containing new improved versions of the songs recorded in the E.P., and also adding five new songs, one of them being a cover of the Janis Joplin’s song “Cry Baby” which brought him a whole new level of exposure (this video can also be seen in the videos section of this web site).
In February of 2012 Emi decided to move to New York, where he’s working on the promotion of his album and writing new material.
Emi is currently producing some of the biggest and most influential artists in the world from his home base in NYC and has built a very serious name for himself as a top tier producer and audio engineer. To learn more about these specific endeavors click below.
